Yep Day 1 at carnoustie and I have seen west get a hole in one, Robert McIntyre chip in for eagle and some pretty decent amateurs. I have been to some of the best courses over the past few weeks, but there truly is something special about a Open venue. I'm not sure if it's the trains going past or the smell of the sea, maybe its watching the golf ball meandering soon the fairways, all I know is that I am lucky to be here. Links golf is strange good shots often dont get the reward and bad luck is always around the corner, I watched McIntyre hit his shot, he was in the group in front of Westwoods, he had just chipped in on the 7th for eagle, but the golfing gods were not happy. At the par 3 8th he hit his shot which landed in the green side bunker, I can honestly say I have never seen a ball so badly plugged, when they demonstrate bunker shots on sky and they get people to stand on the ball, this was worse than that !! Poor McIntyre his words were simple F#+k !! I hope tomorrow I will meet Bill Murray in my T rex costume and have a few laughs. Remember golf is just a game, and games are meant to be fun.
